Air to air intercooler for various applications. Size is 780 mm (27.6") X 300 mm (11.8") X 76mm (3") thick. Inlets are 68mm (2.67") I.D. Cold air into the engine makes lots of extra horsepower. An intercooler exhanges the heat in hot engine intake air to the outside air that travels across the tubes of the intercooler. The warm compressed air from the turbo outlet is sent through the intercooler tubes prior to entering the engine. Our intercoolers are manufactured out of aluminum with alumunium fins, thus providing an excellant conductor and excellant transfer medium, so our intercooler is able to transfer some of the heat of the charged inlet air to the cooler outside air passing over the tubes. These intercoolers lower the intake air temperature thereby further increasing the intake air density which is the objective of turbocharging. In sizing an intercooler, the bigger the better. Select the largest intercooler you can fit into the space you have. Typically a larger intercooler has more surface area over which the heat transfer can occur. Smaller intercoolers can be a flow restriction. This flow restriction can increase the pressure drop across the intercooler thereby causing the turbo to compress the air to a higher pressure in order to maintain the same pressure at the intake manifold. Ultimately this results in a warmer and lower density air into the engine! Result is less horsepower.
